dog training136 Dog training?
clueless asked:

I have a 3 year old labrador retriever (possibly mixed with a weimeriner).
He’s been an indoor dog all his life and is very friendly and hasn’t grown up living with any dogs.
Although from time to time he has been around them and he is nothing but friendly with them.
We started going to a dog park within the last year and take every now and then where we let him run with the other dogs.
It all started out good.
He played well, was a little nervous. But nothing grand.
Well lately whenever the tennis ball is thrown and another dog gets it he gets so angry and starts barking and fighting with the dog.
So we’ve taken him out for a while to try to identify how to fix the problem.
He seems to get really jealous when someone gets the toy before him.
Can i train him to stop being like that this late in the game?
And how can i do it?
It’s sort of hard to not surround him with toys because all the people at the park bring toys and most of the dogs all play together and then my dog sees the toy in the air and goes after it.

dog training236 Why are people so adamant about dog training?
Corey D asked:

I would just like to get peoples opinion on why you think people don’t want to have properly trained and well behaved dogs? And why everyone feels the need to find a “quick fix” for bad or or even dangerous behaviors? Please be polite in answering this question, thanks

dog training172 how do I start my own service dog training program?
doglover asked:

I want to do that when I grow up.
I mean (legally)
what should I get a degree in?
How do I know what licences i need or certificates i need so I can train and place/sell my own service dogs? (im going to have another part time job too)
Is there a program that places service dogs for you?
Thanks

dog training214 What dog training collar would you suggest?
attitudeismoney asked:

Our Beagle is currently 13 pounds and should top out around 25 pounds. We want to let him run in the yard without spending $300 to install the fence and etc. We also want to use it as a training tool in the house and when we go to visit friends.
Just to clarify. I am looking for suggestions for a remote control training collar. I want to let the dog run free in the yard without him getting run over if he wanders into the street. I also wish to use the collar when we travel to dog parks and etc.

What brand and model number would you suggest?

dog training183 Dog training tips please? How do you stop a dog from going up the stairs?
LFM asked:

We just moved into our first house and we’ve been trying to train our 3yr old maltese/poodle to NOT go up to the second floor. He only ran up once and I chased him, carried him down. But since then he’s been pushing his luck by sleeping on the steps. First step, second step, this morning was the third step and just now he was on the fourth!

Are there any training tips to stop him? I don’t want a baby gate on the main staircase.

Thank you!

dog training101 Top 3 Dog Obedience Training Tips
Danny S Thompson asked:

Dog obedience training is the process where you as the owner or anybody trained to conduct dog training sessions teach your dog good manners and behavior. Through these sessions, your dog can learn not to bark excessively, how to relieve himself when needed, how to act when left alone at home, not to go to places he isn’t supposed to, etc.

Listed below are some useful tips which you can incorporate into your training sessions. Always keep in mind that almost all tips for training your dog need to be modified to best suit you and your dog.

Tip 1: Make use of effective dog training aids.

There are lots of effective training aids in the market today. Pee pads are there to help your dog know the places where he can relieve himself, even when alone.

Wireless fences are also among the most popular electronic dog training tools today. These can be placed in areas where you don’t want your dog to stray. These gadgets send very mild electronic signals which remind your dog to avoid crossing over such areas.

Tip 2: Make sure that your dog is mentally healthy prior to your dog obedience training sessions.

A dog frequently having tantrums most likely means he isn’t feeling well. Such a dog won’t be able to properly focus on the training sessions anyway. This means it would be much better to consult your veterinarian or your expert dog trainer friends about the ways you can do to ensure that your dog is mentally fit.

Tip 3: Be extra patient.

Don’t assume your dog can learn fast. It is much better to think otherwise. This is because obedience training sessions done slowly but surely help prevent your dog from missing important details which can affect his entire behavior. It can also be quite confusing for him to learn it again in the future. This means cover all details possible the first time around.

Other dog obedience training tips include ensuring that your dog is in good physical and mental health as well as properly hydrated before each session. Remember to not over train your dog as this can lead to more serious problems in the future regarding the health and wellness of your dog.
