dog training189 Can I find a dog training schedule online?
ICYUNVME asked:

I trained my basset hound with out a real tentative schedule but my pit bull needs more structured training, he does not have behavioral issues, and is generally a good dog, his issues include, jumping not sitting when told, barking out side, and so one. If any one knows of a planned training schedule online, that is like Day 1, do this, Day 2 do this, and so on and so forth.
Thanks,
B

Rachel Rogers asked:

We have a 3 year old french bulldog who loses her mind (jumping, barking, running..) when another dog walks past the house or she sees one on tv. Not only is it annoying and embarrassing but we’re afraid she might hurt herself. Any suggestions for correcting her behavior.

dog training97 Dog Training Tips For Happy Owners and Dogs
Carrie Plescan asked:

Training your dog will guarantee that you and your dog co exist in harmony. It will make your life and your dog’s life much easier, and you’ll be much happier companions. Puppy training is an essential part of bringing up your dog. Dog training is:

* for every dog or puppy

* saves homes

* fosters love

* and even saves lives.

* should be adapted to each dog’s character and disposition

Although obedience training will not solve all behavior problems, it provides the foundation for solving just about any problem you may encounter with your dog. It is important for both you and your dog as it helps to establish a strong bond between you and your pet. Choose an obedience class carefully. It should not be monotonous or boring for you or your pet. Obedience training, schools, and even training tips are available online, and the Internet is one of the best places to start to find a good dog training program. There are also good books and videos to get you started.

Basic pet obedience training typically consists of 6 basic behaviors:

1. Sit

2. Down

3. Stay

4. Recall (“come”, “here” or “in”)

5. Close (or loose-leash) walking

6. Heel

Teaching obedience in dogs helps to prevent the development of bad habits. Training your puppy is something you should start planning at the earliest opportunity. It should be a fun, enriching and bond-building experience for both of you. If it isn’t, then find a new program fast. Training your dog to walk next to you on a leash is easy to do when you learn the proper techniques. However, training your dog to stop undesirable behaviors can often be a real challenge. Training your pet is the basic and fundamental step to communicating and teaching your dog obedience and good behavior. And it will bring real and substantial rewards as you build a better relationship with your pet, as well as teach him acceptable behaviors.

The fact of the matter is that dog and puppy training is simple if you use the right tips and techniques since dogs are eager to please you by nature. It is important to remember that dog training is not like programming a robot who once programmed will follow all your future commands without fail.

Sam R asked:

IF i am training a dog for the people with disabilities and i have a vest for the dog that says “service dog” and someone decides they don’t want the dog in their shop even tho the dog isn’t being disruptive, is that legal? And would i be required to show certification?

dog training200 How do I get into dog training as a profession?
marmenta44 asked:

I only got my first two dogs 6 months ago and have really enjoyed transforming them into generally good citizens and am even interested in perhaps making it a career. How do I go about becoming a professional dog trainer? And maybe even walking dogs?
For clarification, I want to train for good behavior and solve behavioral issues

dog training195 Can I take my therepy dog in training out?
May M asked:

I’m training my dog as a therepy dog but it’s not official because I own him and just decided to do this but can I still take him out places like wallmart that allow therepy and service animals? Do I need to get him registered as a therepy dog in training? If so how do I do it?

dog training149 How much does dog training cost at a place like Mans Best Friend?
Waldo asked:

I know it varied depending on the dog and what you need and how long it takes, but I’m just looking for a ballpark. We just have a small dog who we adopted from a shelter and he never was potty trained and he tends to get seperation anxiety and tear the house up while we’re gone.

dog training206 Whats the best way to have an infant and a devoted, attentive, loving dog? Breeds, training and advice?
Cleoppa asked:

This is basically a theoretical, planning-ahead sort of question. I don’t have a spouse, a house and can’t get another dog at the moment.

But many people on here and elsewhere say that having a dog when you have an infant isn’t a good idea. I agree, but I also see so many stories about babies growing up with wonderful, protective dogs.

If I ever have a kid, I definitely want a dog that is so devoted and so protective of him. The kind you read stories about… shielding the kid from the fall-off of the balcony, protecting the baby from rattlesnakes, that babies learn to walk holding on to…

So… if you wanted a dog like this and didn’t have a kid yet, what would be your strategy?

I realize having a baby and puppy at the same time isn’t a good idea. But if you get a dog a year or two before the baby… What breeds would you think are the best choices for infants? What kind of training would you do before the baby came (like, before the baby was even created)?
If you’re giving suggestions for breeds, I prefer rarer breeds. Just a personal preference, but I’d be more interested in breeds that aren’t in the top 10 or even top 20 or 30 maybe.

A few breeds I’ve thought might be a good fit include Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs and American Foxhounds. But I haven’t done extensive research. These are just two breeds I’ve come across in my reading that seem like good fits.
