dog training94 The Importance of Dog Training
Kenny Yong asked:

Dog training is an important aspect of owning and raising a dog. However many people do not fully understand the importance of dog training. It is not meant to turn your dog into some kind of robot who follows commands accurately and mindlessly. It is also not aimed to make your puppy into a show dog that can do tricks to amuse your friends. Dog training is all about making the bond between you and your dog stronger. It is about teaching your dog the basic rules to make him a safer pet as well as a pleasant companion.

Dog training is not about subduing your dog to follow your every whim; it is about communication. Regardless of your purpose for owning a dog, whether it is for company or for protection, you should train your dog so that you will not have any behavioral problems with it in the future. Dog training will turn your frisky puppy to a more docile dog that will obey your command and stay away from trouble.

Dog training is highly recommended regardless of your lifestyle or the breed of your dog. It is also recommended to start training your dog while still a puppy. This is because older dogs are more difficult to train. Sometimes, different dog breeds may require different dog training techniques. For instance, you can’t use the same technique to train a large Great Dane and tiny Chihuahua.

Simple dog training starts with obedience training. First, your puppy must recognize his name and be responding to it every time you call it out. You can then start to train him to come to you whenever you call him. Use the verbal commands come and here when you are calling him. Then you can start introducing some other techniques such as the sit command. You should start with the simple commands first and gradually advance to more complicated commands.

The importance of dog is to you’re your dog a disciplined and docile companion who can follow simple commands and keep away from trouble such as destroying your neighbors flower patch. Also, the goal of dog training is to make your dog safer, not only to you and your family, but also to everyone in your neighborhood. This is especially important if you have a large dog that can be capable of damage or injury. A trained dog will simply not run off to chase a cat and will not be aggressive to other pets, children and adults.

Dog training is not easy. You have to possess patience and perseverance to be always consistent in your commands so that your dog will learn faster and more effectively. You should also respect your dog. Remember that you chose him and he didn’t choose you. You should treat him right in the first place, because if you don’t you will end up with an unhappy dog who will likely run away from you and be quite difficult to train.

If you are truly determined to train your dog personally, you can find a lot of resource material on dog training in many books, manuals, pamphlets and others. It may be helpful to get some information about dog training even before you get a puppy. Sometimes pet shops will offer dog obedience training either for free or for a fee. Just make sure that it is attuned to the requirements of your dogs breed. You can also hire a professional dog trainer to assist you in training your beloved pet.

dog training225 Whats the best way for dog obedience training?
aageezen asked:

It seems like the positive training methods only get you so far. It’s a great method to communicate with the dog – have him think and problem solve. But in presence of distractions and other temptations, it doesn’t necessarily instill reliable obedience.

Please suggest methods, advice, books or courses. Thanks!

dog training76 Dog Training For Kids At Home
Aasheesh Jain asked:

Little kids are particularly fond of dogs and dogs too like running around children. Dogs really take very good care of kids and are quite protective about them. However, if you have a kid, there are several important factors that you must consider before deciding to bring a pup home.

Learn about various breeds and their primary traits. Choose the dog breed that is known to be of easy temperament and training friendly. Besides, the breed the individual traits also matter. For instance, Dobermans are not supposed to be the children’s friend yet some of them have been found to be extremely friendly with kids and are very tolerant of their rashness. In a few instances dogs of certain gentle breeds turn out to be short tempered and highly irritable. The best way to find out whether a pup will grow into an angry dog or an affectionate one is to have a look at his mother or grown up siblings.

Never forget that the puppy might be much smaller than your kid but would grow much faster than him. One thing that you must make your little ones understand that a pup is not a toy and cannot be handled the way they like. The child, therefore, must give a gentle treatment to the dog and mend his pushing, pulling and twisting ways.

Kids have the habit of putting everything in their mouths and once they get a dog they try to put all of it in his mouth. Teach him not to, for the dog might not like it that much, besides the kid might also hurt himself or herself doing it. And, no tail pulling.

The child must also be encouraged to train the dog himself or herself so that they grow up together and the dog understands your child’s commands fully well. Do not allow your child to walk the dog unless you or some other elder is around because dogs often get distracted by sounds and may go berserk in excitement. This might hurt the child though the dog himself would feel very sorry for having hurt the little one. Dogs are very sensitive creatures and can feel human pain. If you are in pain they just might end up crying literally.

dog training61 Dog Training
Rebecca Barton asked:

Dog training is not necessarily a difficult process but it is a process which requires a great deal of patience as well as the ability to interpret which types of techniques are most effective for the particular dog you are training. Dog training is communication — showing your dog how you want him to act in a way he understands. Dog training is about trust — teaching your dog he can feel safe and know that you will take care of him. Training is critical to a long, happy and safe relationship with your canine friend. It is most effective when both you and your dog are enjoying yourselves and having fun. Dog training is very important for many reasons.

Problems

Problems such as aggression, house breaking, barking, biting, running away, jumping up, biting kids, etc are usually caused by lack of training. Don’t let your dog’s problems get the better of you. If a puppy in this period kept isolated and without social contacts, it is very likely that there will be major problems with the dog’s socialization. When most people first bring home their new puppy they focus on the love & enjoyment their puppy will bring, but without effective training this novelty wears off and soon leads to other related problems. This is why it is so important to correctly train your dog.

Methods

Methods and behavioral principles provide a valuable foundation; but the ultimate test of a trainer’s success is results – not theories. There are a number of different methods which can be used to train a dog. Some of these methods include the positive reward training method, the method with praise and respect and even fear training methods. While many trainers will favor one particular method over another for training a dog many will also agree that sometimes it is necessary to train a dog using a combination of these methods. The positive reward method is one of the most widely used training methods.
Positive training is fast, fun and simple.

Owner

Owners must learn to understand a dog’s instincts, needs, and behavior. Owners must learn how to gently assert dominance over their dog, which will make for a long-lasting and fulfilling relationship. Owners often think that gently showing dominance means showing aggression, however this is not the case.

Puppies

Puppies should be enrolled in puppy preschool between 8 and 16 weeks to promote good socialization between other dogs. Puppies will be encouraged to socialize in a safe and controlled environment, which will help mold them into becoming friendly, well-adjusted adult dogs. When potty training, keep in mind that puppies, like humans, tend to flourish when phrased and are rewarded for their efforts.

A vital part of dog training is the understanding of how a dog thinks. I also believe the three key points in dog training are consistency, motivation and feedback. Dog training is one part knowledge, one part experience and one part heart.

dog training220 How much should I charge for dog training classes?
Nikki asked:

The one-hour class will be taught inside business which offers large roaming pasture. I want to teach PRIVATE lessons as well, but can decide how much more to charge.

**Puppy Kindergarten

-Basic tricks
-Proper leash/harness training.
-House breaking advice
-Group socializing with people and other animals
-Will take emails and calls 24/7 for assistance.

I’m thinking about having a little “graduation” after the six-week class. Rosette will be given to the puppy who has shown the most improvement.
