I just got a new puppy but he is not potty trained and insists on going on the carpet. I cannot get a doggy door because I also have a cat. I am out about 8 hours a day. How can I at least get him to go on the wood floor or better yet wait until someone gets home.

Training a dog for protection purposes requires a dog to undergo extensive training from a very early age. A dog which is required to be trained to be employed for protection needs to have very high level of obedience training. The requirement arises from the need to be in total control of his aggressive nature which has to be turned on and off just on the word of command of the handler.
What has to b kept in mind is that guard dog and attack dog training is entirely different from protection. A protection dog which is usually used by the police needs to act on the word of his handler. He is expected to show his aggressive nature to the maximum and to become docile on the very next order and stop his action immediately and withdraw.
A pup around 6- 8 weeks starts undergoing this sort of training as a fun game while the handler trains him using a rag or a similar object to chase and rip apart as a dog training aid. This training aid is replaced by a bad filled with saw dust as the dog grows older and takes the figure of a person.
By the time he turns 2 years, the dog is shifted to a bite suit or a sleeve as a dog training aid. The subject by this time learns to turn his aggression on and off just by the word of the handler and can concentrate on his target specifically as identified by the handler.
On the other hand a guard or attack dog does not need to exercise that much control and practice obedience as a protection dog does. This all is done by channelizing a dog’s natural instincts in an organized manner to get the maximum benefit for the mankind.

I recently adopted a three month old puppy from a shelter. She comes home with me in a couple of days. I have read books and online pages about training puppies so I am well prepared for my new puppy. But I am concerned because my dad owns a dog that isn’t very well trained. She is 13, and happy but doens’t have the best manners. Will that affect my new puppy? Or any advice about my situation?

Is it worth the money? I mean they’re offering an 8-week program for $109.00 to teach your dog how to control his barking, attitude, his overall behavior, potty training, how to sit, stand, shut-up, etc.

I have had some requests to watch a training session with one of my own dogs, and how exactly it is that I train it. This is a session with my dog ‘Nash’ working on a ‘beg’ command, and also to take small turns in facing me. I am using a bite pillow as the toy for him, and it definetly takes some discipline for the dog to be very involved with the toy, but yet still come in and out of drive, and maintain the same enthusiasm at the end as he had in the beginning.
Well i need to train my dog and i want a really good dog trainer. THE TRAINER DOESNT HAVE TO BE IN THE KING OF PRUSSIA AREA NECESSARILY, BUt at least close to that place. i dont want it to far. maybe somecompanies would be helpful that are nationwide. please answer. thanks!
